Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and Auctions – 2019 Preview

From inception in 1996, Florida’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance continues its enviable record as the premier classic-car event on the east coast. Organized by Bill Warner and held with the tireless efforts of some 450 event volunteers, “The Amelia,” as it has become more commonly known, has built an uninterrupted record through the years, drawing nearly 250 rare show vehicles annually and generating over $2.5 million in total to Community Hospice & Palliative Care and other worthy charities.

While RM Auctions (now RM Sotheby’s) added a high-end collector-car auction to the Amelia Island festivities in 1999 and stands as the official auction house in conjunction with the Concours, several more top auction houses have successfully carved out niches in this beautiful space.

Among them are Bonhams (www.bonhams.com), Gooding and Company (www.goodingco.com), which staked its place at Amelia Island nearly a decade ago in 2010, Hollywood Wheels (www.hollywoodwheels.com),
and for the first time at Amelia Island in 2019, Russo and Steele Collector
Vehicle Auctions (www.russoandsteele.com).
