Update – This AMX sold at the 2013 Toronto Spring Classic Car Auction

Looking for something a little different? Consider this 1970 American Motors AMX, one of just 747 built with the powerful 360 V-8 and TorqueFlite automatic transmission. It represents the final production year of the short-wheelbase two-seat AMX, homologated to compete in the SCCA’s fabled Trans-Am racing series. It sold for just $8,200 at the April 2013 Toronto Spring Classic Car Auction/

A former 10-second drag car with only a few passes under the prior owner, who was reportedly frightened by the car, the AMX was returned to the road by the current owner, who installed a complete interior with red upholstery and matching carpeting. The dash insert, door handles, and console cover were crafted in wood by a cabinetmaker. Retaining an adjustable four-link rear suspension, mini tubs and sub-frame connectors, the AMX was also equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Torker single-plane intake, headers, a manual valve body, and 3.31:1 rear gears. Attractively finished in white with a red accent stripe, this very fast and rare AMX also included Magnum ‘500’ road wheels, factory-optional side exhaust, and a shop manual.
